The One Is A Success!

Our philosophy at Taylor's Black Simmentals is to provide functional, quality breeding seed stock with the commercial producer in mind. Today's market calls for consistency and with more and more alliances forming, it is important to have a source for your genetics which you can count on. Taylor's Black Simmentals has been producing herd builders since 1979, so you can bet that our genetics are time-tested.

We feel that the ideal beef animal has Simmental influence in its genetics, has more than adequate growth, but also provides you with carcass merit and maternal abilities. And, we are proud to say that Black Irish Kansas is one of the few Simmental bulls that fits all those criteria. His progeny is time-proven and many of our foundation females carry his genetic potential.

Because we feel that Simmentals cross well with other breeds, we have introduced Black Angus genetics into our herd this year. By breeding our Black Irish daughters to top-rated Angus carcass bulls, such as Alberda Traveler, we are hoping to provide you with a different direction in your bull and female selection. Other Angus sires we have utilized include: New Design 878, Saugahatchee 3000C. Angus bulls were selected on phenotype, frame size, growth performance and carcass merit.

Of course, we will continue to produce purebred Simmental genetics, too. We have introduced some new sires into the AI line-up, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the calf crop this spring. New sires include: PVF-BF Black Joker and Nichols Black Legacy, two exceptional homozygous black and polled bulls that have above average EPD's in almost all traits. We will also have calves by: SRS Franchise, Ellingson Black Perfector, Circle S Leachman 600U, WHF Desparado, WLE Overload, and Black Irish Kansas.

This year's line-up of yearling bulls exhibits our dedication to using new outcross homozygous black and polled sires. The group is exceptionally consistent and is performing well in our ranch bull test. AI Sires of these calves include: Black Irish Kansas, TE McCallister, RIV Black Choctaw, WHF Desparado, GW Lucky Strike, and Nichols Black Destiny. Pasture sires include: GFI Trooper, by LRS Preferred Stock; Gary Owen, Taylors Black Drew (Black Irish Kansas); John Hiram, by 600 U.

We have a nice selection of bred heifers that will be ready to calve in March. All are AI bred, except for one. They are broody females ready to go to work for you. All are bred to calving ease and low birth weight sires such as: PVF-BF Black Joker, TE McCallister, Black Irish Kansas, Nichols Black Legacy, RIV Black Choctaw.

Our open heifer line up is also exciting! Many are homozygous black and are also doing well on our ranch test. Sires of heifers include: TE McCallister, Nichols Black Destiny, RIV Black Choctaw, Taylors Black Harvey (by Black Mick), GFI Trooper, John Hiram. FF Hercules 580 (by Emmons Black Hercules); and Gary Owen.
